Termas de Nequi – Argentina

From Sant Martin de los Andes, we drove about 60 km on a corrugated dirt road to reach the thermal waters of Nequi.

The thermal waters are remote partly due to the simple fact that access is limited to bigger 4×4 vehicles. It requires following a 20 km very narrow, steep, and bumpy road which includes crossing 2 rivers to reach the campground where we camped for the night. Next morning, we started early for an easy 5 km hike along lake Nequi until reaching the thermal waters which simply are a junction of 2 relatively small rivers – one very hot and the other somewhat cooler. The temperature varies between 37 and -40 degrees C and water covers you only by laying down in the various deeper sections. Amazingly comfortable, though, to be in the middle of nature – as good as alone – and being able to relax in the “same” hot water as people probably have done for thousands of years.

During our about 2 hours stay (literally sitting or laying in the hot river), we were only 4 people. However, we did meet quite a few people as we by midday returned to camp.
