Puno – a shower, a good meal and Toyota maintenance

We already know Puno and since we really needed a shower after a number nights in the tent, we decided to stay a night in a hotel next to Lake Titicaca in the outskirts of town.

A view of Titicaca from the hotel’s garden (after the rainstorm).

The plan was to hook up with a couple we met along the route, who were staying/camping outside the hotel in their camper….  It was also our original plan to camp outside and negotiate access to a shower/bathroom, but as the afternoon progressed, we had a strong rainstorm, and we eventually took a room in the hotel (of course including a dinner and a luxury breakfast – even though we usually enjoy Mona’s “Njø» as the day starts…).

While in Puno, we also used the opportunity to have a quick Toyota-service (engine oil, filters and a quick check on the brake pads). Over the years I have made it a rule to service the car every 10000 km or so and believe this rule has paid off over the years.

And, as has happened so many times, a passerby offered to buy the car – saying that the Spanish registration plate did not matter – he had so much land to supervise that plates on the car was not a necessity… 😊!

Of course, we did not sell it this time either……, instead we just completed the service by checking the brake pads and headed north.
