“Coffee” action and reaction

Based on recommendations from one of Mona’s relatives, who also gave us lodging, good conversations and joyful company for some days in Armenia (Tuto and Sandra and all the dogs and cats – hello, you know the story 😉), we enjoyed a very nice route crossing Colombia’s coffee growing region. Being able to take it easy and having time during the crossing of Antioquia, gave us a chance to really enjoy the ride and the many beautiful views this area of Colombia offers.

First, we visited the thermal waters of Santa Rosa de Cabal, enjoyed the waters in company of many locals and “free” camped on the parking lot of the thermal waters. Though it was a night with heavy rain, it was nevertheless a memorable and pleasant experience. Hours in the hot water, made us sleep like babies…, well almost, under the rains steadfast drumming on the roof of the tent.

Next morning we headed to Jerico, where we enjoyed walking to the village from our campground. We really felt as if we at any time could bump into Gaviota and Sebastian (from “The Scent of Passion”, the Colombian Netflix-series from 2022) surrounded as we were by jeeps, coffee-growers in their sombreros and mochilas (typical handmade bags) and cafeterias. The center of Jerico was buzzing with life.

After eating lunch, drinking a “Tinto” (a cup of coffee) and observing a coffee-tasting event across the street, we walked back to our camping and watched an astonishing sunset as the sky suddenly cleared up for a great view of the green valley below and to the west of us.

Life is good – particularly when the sky suddenly opens and the sun appears!
